11.25.18 Both bathrooms done!

I'm not a decorator, and they're not completely done, but both bathrooms are 90% done, re-assembled, and decorated. So here's the final photos.

Second floor bath:

With shower curtain (IKEA)
Shower curtain open

mirror, vanity and towel bars

Over-toilet cabinet (love the tiny succulents I found at IKEA)

Hamper, shelves Greg built; still need artwork here

First floor bath:

Boxes have a candle, a cool shell, and a jar full of blue glass marbles and shells

Still love this mirror and vanity and light

The glass doors let in all sorts of sunlight during the day (and show off the tile work)

Real aloe and funky shells from a friend

Beach scene is a painting from my friend Margaret; starfish and turtle are cheap wall hangings but kind of fun)

Second floor bathroom is DONE!
Love the tile work--floor, walls, trim, niche

Mirror is hung, but not wired yet (it has a built-in LED light)

Plumbing
more of the tile; went with vertical subway tile for something different and it's really grown on me.

Can't wait to take a bath--first one in years.

love the tiles in the niche; last minute addition at the contractor's suggestion

11.7.18

The second floor bathroom is only days away from being done.

Today the plumber came and connected everything.

The TP holder and towel racks were installed.

And the last pieces of tile were installed. Tomorrow is grouting and sealing.

(And it all passed inspection.)

11.6.18

So close...

Lots wrapped up and the plumber comes tomorrow.

Unfortunately I didn't realize that vanity tops come in two different depths and I bought the wrong depth!  Luckily they had one in stock in the correct size. No choice on which to go with since it was the only one there. Hope we're okay with it....

Grouting on the shower walls. I REALLY like the horizontal tiles now that they're grouted. I think it looks really cool. :)

And I'm happy with the accent tiles, too. The granite in some of them is similar to the tiles inside the niche.

Here's hoping I get to take a bath this weekend!  :)

11.5.18

I’m combining a few days’ worth of work into one post.

The upstairs niche is (mostly) tiled:

The floor tiles are in:

Almost all the surround tile is done. (And we painted—a pale purple called Fairy Garden)

More trying to show the purple:

11.1.18

Fun stuff happening.

First, the over-tub tile continues. I think the vertical tile is kinda funky. I wanted something a little differentl since it’s the same tile as in the first floor, and a lot of white.

And the customer shower door was installed on the first floor. I love it!

10.26.18

Plumbing and insulation passed inspection. So the rest of the demo occurred, the Durock was installed and missed, new subfloor was laid, and some drywall was patched.

10.24.18

And we're back....

After about a week off with an ill contractor, things are ramping up again.

The plumber was here today as well as the contractor, getting things ready to start the tiling.

Look--it's a bathtub!

re-routed plumbing

it'll be a faucet ;)

And the mixer

the shower head

And they added an access door, which probably should have been put in when we added this bathroom about 12 years ago.

We did have a brief moment of panic when we got home and the plumber was still there, going up and down the stairs repeatedly. Then he stopped and said to Greg and I, "You've got an issue." This is not something you want a plumber to say. Turns out the issue is that the faucet set we got at Home Depot, despite being sealed, was missing most of the parts. Luckily the mixer was NOT missing, and that's the only part the plumber needed to install before the tiling. So he put it in. And luckily Home Depot believed us when we said a sealed box was missing parts. Missing parts obtained. Contractor comes back tomorrow to start with the walls of the stall. And I'm back to second-guessing my tile design. <gulp>  Here's hoping I chose well with this bathroom, too!
